William E. Smith, 65, passed away April 29, 2018. Born in Detroit, MI. , he lived most of his life in Akron.

William served in the U.S. Army. After 35 years of service as Manager of Respiratory Care at Akron General Medical Center, he retired in 2011. He was a member of First Church of God in Tallmadge, AARC and American Legion.

William loved playing his guitars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Velma Smith; son, Billy Smith. William is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughter, Michelle (Justin) Firestone of Dublin; sons, Brian (Jennifer) Smith of Lee’s Summit, MO.

, Matthew (Lisa) Smith of Fort Hood, TX. ; sisters, Julie (Larry) Ward of Gadsden, AL. , Linda (Vernon) Begley of Athens, AL.

; grandchildren, Wyatt, Marshall, Abby, Jonathon, Joseph, Jacob, Miles; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 at the First Church of God, 464 Northeast Ave, Tallmadge with Pastor Doug Walter officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Mogadore. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Church of God, 464 Northeast Ave.
