Mary Jo Lorenzen, 93, of Olin passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Pennington Square Assisted Living facility in Monticello, Iowa. Mary Jo was born Dec. 3, 1924 to Joseph N. and Boneta L. (Shaw) Miller.

she grew up in the Anamosa area attending the Anamosa Schools graduating in 1943. on August 7, 1943 she was united in marriage to Grover M. Lorenzen. They farmed with Grovers brother and father known as Louis Lorenzen & Sons raising beef cattle south of Olin.

Mary was a housewife, she was a cub scout Den Mother and an Olin Sailorette 4-H club leader. She loved to sew and do needed work. She and Grover played couples golf at Fawn Creek country club and wintered in Arizona for several years.

she loved her family very much and she loved to hear about the grandchildren and great-grandchildrens activities. she will be missed very much. Services for Mary Jo will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Olin, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home in Olin, Iowa on Sunday, October 7. Burial will be held at the Olin Cemetery. Surviving are two children, Sandra (Roger) Stephen of Monticello and Garen [Pam) Lorenzen of Olin, Five grandchildren; Patricia (Taylor) Alsenay of Tahlequah, OK.

, Richard Eric Hansen (Jamie) of Goldn Colorado, Tara (Jim) Irwin of Dewitt, IA, Heather (Tom) Hefflefinger of Olin and Chad (Sara) of Lisbon, IA. , Nine great- grandchildren; Megan Alsenay, Candace Alsenay, Seth Alsenay, Katie lrwin, Kyle lrwin, Kyleen lrwin, Alyssa Hefflefinger, Haley Hefflefinger, and Everett Hefflefinger, two stepchildren Michelle (Cole) Seigel, Monticello and Greg Stephen, Monticello. A sister Katie Prull in Visalia, Calif.

and Joseph E. Miller in Colton, Calif. She is preceded in death by her husband Grover M. Lorenzen in 2012, her parents Joseph N. & Boneta Miller, two sisters Madelyn (Morris) Lane, Velma (Dale) Danneman, a brother James (Sandy) Miller, Brother-in-law Virtus (Mary) Lorenzen, sisters-in-law Lois (Delvert) Fisber, Helen (Bill) Norton. Also preceded in death were Grovers parents Louis and Margaret Lorenzen and a step-son Bradley Stephen.
