MARY L. PERKINS-NORMAN Mary L. Perkins-Norman was born June 27, 1959 in in Kansas City, Missouri, to parents Mayola and Sylvester Perkins. Mary departed this life on February 16, 2019. She was preceded in death by both parents; Brother Albert Sutton; Nephew Donald Sutton and dear friend Robin Cooper.

Mary accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church by the late Reverend Emmanuel Johnson. Mary was a proud 1977 graduate of Central Senior High School, Kansas City, Missouri, “Home of the Mighty Blue Eagles”. Mary met Lemuel “Stu” Norman through a mutual friend, Jamie.

Shortly after, on May 20, 2006, they married in a lavish outdoor wedding. “Stu” often referred to Mary as his best friend. Mary was employed at Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) until her untimely death.

Mary or “Chunky” as loved ones called her, loved spending time with her family (especially with her grandchildren) and friends. She loved watching her favorite sports teams, and she enjoyed listening to music. She would often host family gatherings, and she was always the life of the party.

Her loving smile and contagious laughter will genuinely be missed. Mary L. Perkins-Norman leaves to cherish her memories to her loving husband, Lemuel “Stu” Norman; daughters Marla Perkins (Loren Perkins) of Nashville, TN; step-daughters Shantal Winstead (Jazek Winstead) sons; Quinton Cooper, Marland Cooper, Jerel Cooper, and Jaron Cooper (Leahna Jackson) of Bentonville, Arkansas; brother Ronnie Perkins (Marva Perkins) of San Diego, California; (raised as her sister) LuCretia Hill; cousins, Lisa Williams (Peter Williams) of Virginia; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Auneea Mickles (Louis Mickles); father-in-law Lemuel E. Norman (Freddie Norman) and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Watkins Heritage Chapel.

Visitation 1:00 P.M. Interment Twelve Gates Memorial Garden.
