Obituary for Mary Lorene Newport (Hubbard) Mary Lorene Newport, age 98, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. She was born on June 13, 1920 in Weir City, Kansas to Onice and Mary Cutshall Hubbard. Lorene, a coal miner’s daughter, married Noble Earl Newport in 1936 and together they raised three sons.

She worked as a licensed beautician in Independence until 1985, initially at The Jones Store and then at her own shop. She later worked for Weight Watchers before retiring in 2005. She was an active member of Waldo Avenue Baptist and Immanuel Baptist churches.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, her husband Earl, and her son Noble. She is survived by two sons, Douglas and Richard; daughters-in-law Deloma, Marcia, and Carol; six grandchildren; and many great-and great-great-grandchildren. A very hardworking mother who supported her family, Lorene will be greatly missed by all.

A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. , Independence, MO. Interment will follow Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
