Mary’s Obituary Mary Louise (Guereca) Hernandez, 76, passed away May 24, 2019. Born August 25, 1942 in Kansas City, KS to Joe and Epifania Guereca. She was a graduate of Bishop Ward High School.

Mary retired from AT&T as a supervisor. Before becoming management, she was an active and longtime member of CWA local 6450. During her career at AT&T she was also a member and held office for AT&T’s Hispanic group, HISPA.

Together with her husband she owned and operated Casa de Hernandez restaurant. She was a member of CABA and served as President for a time. Mary is survived by her husband, Joe A. Hernandez, Sr.; children, Carmela Rank, Joe A. Hernandez, Jr., Frank M. Hernandez, Edward T. Hernandez (Aida Martinez), Angela M. Hernandez, Philip D. Hernandez, Mauricea “Reese” Baska (Alex Eskina); grandchildren, Toni Moore, Joshua Rank, David Rank, Ashlee Rios, Sarah Hernandez, Meghan Hernandez, Anthony Hernandez, Lauren Stahl, Gabriela Hernandez, Izabella Baska, Joe Luis Baska, II, Lillian Hernandez, Philip Hernandez, Jr., Mauricio Eskina, Alexis Eskina and Zachary Eskina; great-grandchildren, Salvador Barr, Elijah Hernandez, Joseph Garcia, Sophia Rank, Joselyn Wood, Daniel Mendez Jr., Julia Garcia, Marlowe Moore, Fiona Rank, Sariah Mendez, Olivia Rank and Joe Anthony Hernandez, IV; sister, Virginia Guereca; brother, Joseph Guereca; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Frank, Joe Guereca Jr., Josephine and Michael; and son-in-law Kevin Rank. The rosary will be prayed at 6pm Wednesday May 29th at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 409 N 15th St. Kansas City, KS followed by visitation until 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 am at the Church.

Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, KCK. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the “Mary Hernandez Memorial Fund” to benefit Bishop Ward High School.
