Mary Margaret Ballard, May 26, 1934 — May 26, 2019

Mary Margaret Ballard, 84, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Episcopal Church Home. A Louisville native, Mary Margaret was a real estate agent with Century 21 Joe Guy Hagen; a member of Epiphany Catholic Church; the Louisville Board of Realtors; the National Association of Realtors; and a graduate of Presentation class of 1952. Mary Margaret was a successful realtor for 47 years.

She attended Bellarmine College to get her license and started her career with Gene Grider real estate. She loved this career and was never far from a phone to help the next client. This career lead to the meeting of her future son-in-law.

Mary Margaret and Matt were one of the first families to build in Douglass Hills Subdivision in Middletown. She was a member of the River City Campers/Square Dance Club and traveled extensively with her family and this group. Mary Margaret and Matt enjoyed entertaining and hosted many events in their special southwestern basement and famous Christmas in July and New Year parties.

A favorite pass time was shopping and was frequently seen at yard sales across the Louisville area. She loved to find and deal and found great joy in seeking out special items for people she loved. Preceding Mary Margaret in death is her husband of 58 years, Matthew beam Ballard; her parents, Richard & Katherine Houpt; and her son-in-law, Michael Q. Murray.

Left to cherish Mary Margaret’s memory is her daughter, Kathleen Ballard Murray; and grandchildren, Patrick Murray; Katherine Murray; and William Murray of Sierra Madre, CA. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 27 at Epiphany Catholic Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p,m,, Wednesday, June 26, at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd.
