Mary Rose Martin, age 72, passed away Thursday morning, March 28, 2019. She was born April 30, 1946 in Muskegon to John and Mildred (Carslake) Pienela. On July 29, 1967, she married Keith B. Martin in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on November 24, 2011.

Mary had worked 20 years at Kmart, on Henry, in the Human Res Department. She enjoyed meeting up with her lifelong friends and had a loyal and caring heart. Mary was very family oriented.

She was a great hostess for family festivities, enjoyed going on trips up north, and most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren. “She was our Rock and we will forever miss her”. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Katherine (Sidney) Atkin of Brighton, MI; 2 grandchildren: Tyler and Bailey Atkin; brother, John “Butch” (Gwen) Pienela of Naples, FL; step-sister, Barbara (Jim) Root of Colorado; cousins: Al (Mary) Sheldon and Cheryl (Steven) Graves; and an aunt to: Amber, Ashley, Tim, Scott, Matt, Heidi, Cecillia, Tom, Chris, Jon, Kim, Julie, Clark, and Bobbie.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Jeannette Pienela; and step-sister, Sandra Wierda. An informal celebration of Mary’s life will be held from 4-6 PM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Fricano Place – Muskegon in the Hideaway Lounge. Memorials to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
