Mary Young Akers, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Mary was born on September 9, 1921. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. Akers; parents, James and Mattie Young; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Formica and husband Randy of Christiansburg; grandson, Michael Formica of Blacksburg; sister, Ruby Epperly of Riner; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was a longtime member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev.
