Mary’s Obituary On February 3, 2019, the Lord called his daughter to her eternal Kingdom. Mary was born on January 16, 1950 to John Oliver and Mary Ernestine Holland. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Reginald and Wayne Holland.

At an early age, she joined St. Mathew’s Holiness Church where she sang in the choir and participated in different church auxiliaries. Later, she joined The New Refuge Bibleway, Franklin, Virginia were she was a faithful member. Each month, Mary would bring in cakes for the members celebrating birthdays.

She never missed Sunday school. Her favorite song to sing was, “The Blood”. Mary often sang solos in church.

Mary graduated from Southwestern High School in 1970. She attended Kee’s Business School and Paul D. Camp Community College. Mary also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society.

She was an active member of the Franklin, Virginia support group for the American Cancer Society. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Levonya Boone and Cheryl Scott of Suffolk, Virginia and Salena Marsh of Boston, Massachusetts; six brothers Curtis (Rosalind) of Suffolk, Stanley and Leonard both of Paterson, New Jersey, James of Franklin, Virginia, David and Keith of Suffolk; three sisters Pamela Holland of Suffolk, LeVerne Holland of Richmond, Virginia and Evelyn Holland of Petersburg, Virginia; two aunts Cornelia Hartwell of Yonkers, New York and Ellen Mitchell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Also mourning her passing: a special son James Porter III; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, among them devoted friends Lois Howell, Telisa Martin, Brenda Hunt, Mrs. Rawls, Sister Ernestine, Linda Pope, Patrice Hawks, Irene Banks and Evelyn Myrick.
