Obituary of Mary Holden Mary Adams Holden, 85, of State College, PA, passed away peacefully in Bucks County, near her children, recently on August 30, 2018; coincidentally, the same day that she married so many years before. Born in Philadelphia on November 11, 1932, to Dr. Clifford R. and Ethel Mae Ivey Adams, she was married to the late Donald M. Holden for over 30 years. Her children and grandchildren include: Craig A. Holden and his wife, Susan, and twins, CJ and Trevor; Diane Holden Hendler, and her husband, Jonathan, and son and daughter, Matt and Julia; also always held close, are her late In-Laws, Morris and Dorothy Holden, and their daughters, Bertha and Cora.

A 1950 Graduate of State College High School with some continued educational work at Penn State University, she thrived in many different work arenas. She worked for several years at Penn State University’s Admissions Office and later at family owned Alvo Electronics. Additionally – in her work for three different moving companies, she was a very successful client representative for both Domestic and International moves.

Accomplished in the banking industry as well, she was one of five in the state of Pennsylvania recognized by the bank’s President with flowers and a raise for “Most Business Earned”. Mary was also the owner of a maternity boutique business, Stork Unlimited, for multiple years. Later in life, she successfully sold fine jewelry as an independent representative before her retirement.

In her high school days, an avid sports enthusiast, Mary was high scorer with 21 points in one game in basketball, was her softball team’s pitcher, and earned the ranking of high bowler overall for both the girls and boys teams. Later in life, she held a record as 2nd highest score at Centre Lanes, of State College. School days also included 3 state art awards that were recognized by art educators state wide.

She also served as an active volunteer, as President of the HRB Singer Women’s Club, and other philanthropic endeavors as a member of both the Senior and Junior Women’s Clubs. Mary loved and belonged to three bridge clubs. Her interests included needlepoint, travel, and a love for animals, supporting them and other worthwhile causes with her generosity.

The family plans on a private graveside service; an informal memorial is planned for October 6, 2018 from 1-3pm at Mary’s State College home. Friends of the family are welcomed for this day dedicated to remembering and celebrating Mary’s life. Mary’s family is very grateful for all the amazing people who made Mary’s last years’ especially filled with kindness, comfort, and humor.
