Maryde McGarity, 90, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 just one week following her 90th birthday. Mrs. McGarity was born in 1928 in Charlotte, the daughter of the late William O. DeArmon and Cynthia Elliott DeArmon. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Angus McGarity; and her daughter, Cynthia Rose McGarity Coalson.

She was a lifetime resident of the Sharon Community. She graduated from Sharon High School in 1945 and following, attended Queens College School of Music. Mrs. McGarity was a fine Christian woman and enjoyed singing with the church choir at Sharon Presbyterian where she was a Lifetime Member of the Women of the Church.

She was active not only at church but also served as President of the Sharon Elementary School PTA. She was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her extended family. Mary was also an accomplished artist and took pride in her ceramic pieces and china painting.

Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Sharon Presbyterian Church in the Charles Little Parlor. A Graveside service will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Maryann McGarity, a son, DeArmon McGarity and his wife Susan, a grandson, Davidson McGarity and a granddaughter, Carrie McGarity Smith and her husband Tyler.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your own choice. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the McGarity family. Online condolences may be made at www.
