Niantic- Mary E. Atkinson, 73 of Acorn Drive passed away unexpectedly on Thursday September 6, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven. She was born in Providence, RI on August 21, 1945. Mary is survived by her husband Carlyle Atkinson, her daughters Kathleen Smith of East Lyme, Mary Papasoo and her husband Michael of Rotterdam, NY, Stephanie Schumann and her husband Jeremey of East Haddam and her dear son David Smith of Niantic.

She leaves behind one grandson Connor Schumann who was the light of her life. Mary was always friendly to everyone. Her family was always her number one priority.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday September 10, 2018 at 11 O’clock at St. Matthias Church 317 Chesterfield Rd. East Lyme.

Interment will follow in East Lyme Cemetery, East Lyme. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday September 9, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home 48 Grand Street Niantic. www.
