Obituary for Matthew Emory “Matt” Altland Matthew Emory Altland, a loving son, husband, dad and friend, passed away February 22, 2019 at the age of 51. Born October 20, 1967 to Emory Moses Altland, Jr. and Bonnie Lorraine Grim Altland, in York, Pa, he spent most of his life in the Plano and McKinney areas. After graduating from Plano East High School, he began his career at EDS.

He pursued a degree in business administration and passed his CPA exam on the first sitting. Matt was always able to suggest ways to achieve improvements in financial performance. Currently, Matt worked as Director of Finance for Baylor Scott and White Health System.

Matt was a devoted husband and father. He married Nelda, his high school sweetheart, and they shared 30 happy years. Matt lived for his family.

His daughter, Isabell, was the light of his life. He was the manager of her soccer team as well as an avid fan of her band activities. Matt always supported Bells passion of music.

Always striving to improve his athletic skills, Matt loved to golf, and he played in the heat and cold, and the rain and wind. Any opportunity to play, Matt was there. Matt had an excellent sense of humor, sometimes bordering on the sarcastic, but always funny.

He also enjoyed helping others learn and improve their abilities. His focus was never on himself, but on those he was helping. He was adored by all his friends and family and will be greatly missed.

Matt is survived by his beloved wife: Nelda; daughter: Isabell; father: Emory Altland, Jr.; mother: Bonnie Kristler; brothers and sisters: Theresa Taylor, Mychelle Wolf, Chris Glatfelter; Holly Travis; brother-in-love: Kelly Sullivan; Grandmother: Beulah Shipley, Nelda’s Parents: Larry and Theresa Sullivan, along with extended family and friends too numerous to mention. A Celebration of Matt’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 2, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 7659 Preston Road, Frisco, TX. Family friend Reverend Nancy Allen will officiate.
