Matthew’s Obituary Matthew Lynn Bastian, 44, returned to his heavenly home while working in El Paso, Texas on January 25, 2019. Matt was born February 5, 1974 in Logan, Utah to Lynn Surn Bastian and Lillian Christine Nebeker Bastian, the first of five sons. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was active in wrestling, football, and rodeo at Marsh Valley High School, where he also found the love of his life Angie. He graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1992 and continued his education at Idaho State University in the welding program. Later, Matt married his high school sweetheart on June 2, 1993.

They welcomed their beautiful daughter, Britney Sha Bastian, September 22, 1993. Shortly after, they were blessed with the birth of their two sons, Colton Matthew Bastian on October 15, 1996 and Trevor Lynn Bastian on October 6, 1997. His family was the most important part of his life.

He was kind to everyone he met. He will be remembered for his generous heart and contagious laugh. Matt was a devoted father, husband, brother, and son.

He enjoyed hunting with his family and helping on the farm/ranch whenever he was home. He also dedicated his life to The Union Pacific Railroad for twenty-three years climbing his way up to become Manager of Track Program-Engineering. There he also formed life long friendships.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Matthew Lynn Bastian is survived by his wife Angie Bastian; three children Britney, Colton, and Trevor Bastian, Arimo, Idaho; his parents Lynn and Christine Bastian, Arimo, Idaho; and brothers Hans C. (Maeli) Bastian Inkom, Idaho; Lytton S. (Ashley) Bastian Downey, Idaho; Jake N. (Sara) Bastian Inkom, Idaho; and 6 nieces and 4 nephews . He was preceded in death by his brother David N. Bastian and paternal grandparents Merlin and Christie Bastian and maternal grandparents Delbert (Jr.

) and Mona Nebeker. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at 12 noon in the Arimo LDS Stake Building. Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church and from 10:30-11:30am on Tuesday prior to the services.

Burial will follow in the Marsh Center Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
