Obituary for Mattie Lou Ethel (Lucy) Spearman It is with great sadness that the family of Mattie Lou Ethel (Lucy) Spearman announces her passing on Sunday October 7, 2018 at the age of 97. She was the eldest of six children born to Clyde and Vada Mann in Old Campbell County, GA. During World War II she served her country helping manufacture airplanes in Atlanta.

These ladies were affectionately known as “Rosie the Riveters”. Lucy (as most of her friends called her), was an accomplished seamstress and loved to make quilts and do volunteer work. If you had the privilege of knowing Lucy, you will remember her sweet smile, kind and uplifting words, and loving spirit.

She was predeceased by her husband Clarence Christopher Spearman of 71 years. She is survived by daughters Barbara Jean Thiel (Tom) of Oak Hill, FL. , Anita Turner (Joe) of Eatonton, GA.

, and Dale Witter of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. ; sister Frances Jones of Johnson City, TN. ; 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 12-2pm followed by a funeral service at 2 o’clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home in Fairburn with Dr. Hugh Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
