In loving memory of Maulupe Kengike. My brother, an uncle, and a father figure to many, passed away unexpectedly at home in Kearns, Utah on January 30th 2019. Maulupe was born on July 23rd 1964.
He was the second to youngest child out of six kids. Born to his father Sione Kengike and mother Ane Tupou Falefehi Vaivaka Kengike. His siblings, the oldest his sister Ana Vaimoana Kengike Alifeleti, second his brother Uasila’a Kengike, third oldest sister Tamaleti Kengike Kamoto, fourth Linda Kengike Vainuku and the youngest Pita Kengike.
Maulupe was a farmer. He grew his own plantation in Tonga. Growing up, one of his favorite things to do on his free time was watch the women’s basketball game.
He was a ladies man. Although he never married and committed to one and had no kids of his own, he was loyal and committed to his parents, siblings and their kids. He sacrificed a lot of his personal time making sure his family was okay before caring for himself.
He was selfless, loving and great at making sure his family was taken care of the best way he knew. In 1995 he came to America to help his sisters. Since his residency in America he played a big role to his sister Linda and her husband Pita Vainuku’s kids lives.
They had 6 kids. The oldest daughter Eniketi Vainuku Tagaloa married to Chris Tagaloa and their 4 kids CJ Tagaloa, Catalina Tagaloa, Tevita Tagaloa, and Linda Tagaloa. Lavinia Vainuku married to Sione Latu and their 6 kids.
Vangana Latu, Losa Latu, Kalo Latu, Sione Jr. Latu, Peter Jr. Latu, Emma Latu. Samisoni Vainuku married to Georgiana Manatau Vainuku and their 8 kids. Soni Jr. Vainuku, Laione Vainuku, Mapa Vainuku, Melanie Vainuku, Eni Vainuku, Price Jr. Vainuku, Finau Vainuku, and Kengike Vainuku.
The youngest sister Emma Vainuku and the youngest brother Price Vainuku married to Siteli Mapa Vainuku and their only child Trinity Vainuku. Maulupe helped raise all his nieces and nephews and their kids during his time here on earth. He loved and cared for all of them.
Maulupe’s love, loyalty, and dedication to his family will be missed and is very appreciated and never forgotten. Maulupe is survived by his sister Linda and her husband Pita Vainuku’s family. A family viewing will be on Saturday February 9, 2019 located at 3901 Courtney Dr. West Valley City, Utah 84120 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Please park on the West or South Side and enter through according door. The burial will be at the Taylorsville City Cemetery located at 4575 South Redwood Rd. Taylorsville, Utah 84123.
