Maurice L. “Maury” Swanson 89, Upper Yoder Twp. , passed away December 14, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. He was born, January 5, 1929, in Jamestown, NY, son of the late Fred and Anna (Danielson) Swanson; and also preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara H. (Holmes) Swanson, in 2014; daughter, Susan Bock and siblings, Floyd and Robert Swanson, and Catherine Holmquist, Ruth MacPheron and Alice Mortimer.

He is survived by daughter, Sally King, Johnstown; grandchildren, Brandon King, wife Maleah, and their son, Eli; Katie King, Brian Bock, and Stephen Bock; and nieces and nephews. Maury was a Korean War Army veteran. He received a degree in electrical engineering from Clarkson University, then was employed for 38 years with GE, as an account manager.

He was a member of F&AM #538, Jaffa Shrine, and the Johnstown Rotary Club. Maury was a gentleman, with a smile and a kind word for everyone. He enjoyed travelling, reading, gardening, and watching his favorite sports teams, especially the Pirates and Steelers.

Maury was an elder and deacon at Westmont Presbyterian Church, 601 Luzerne St., where services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, the Rev. Dr. Rene` Whitaker officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Monday from 4-7 PM at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc. 921 Menoher Blvd. Memorial contributions may be made to Westmont Presbyterian Church Music Program, in Maury’s memory.
