Visitation and Burial Pending Obituary – Max Edward Greenland Max Edward Greenland, eldest child of Harland Gerald and Martha Frances (Moore) Greenland, was born February 6, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa and passed away at age 89, at his son’s home in Ellston, Iowa on November 27, 2018. One of his first childhood memories was when he and his younger brother, Dean, found several cans of paint belonging to their mother, and painted forty head of small pigs with paint and how angry their mother was. Max married Patricia Flynn on January 28, 1950, in Bethany, Missouri. They made their home and raised their children in the Grand River area on the “bottom”.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Kathy and Glenn Wright of Jacksonville, Florida, Kenny and Amanda Greenland of Stanberry, Missouri, Kevin and Donna Greenland of Ellston, Iowa, Marty Greenland of Grand River, Iowa, and Jamie and Andy Gorey of Northbrook, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Leslie Bell & Jared Jones, Tricia Bell & Dave McLawhorne, Steven Greenland, Dallas Greenland, Daniel Greenland, Brooke Greenland, Ashley Davis & Shay Kofoid, and Finley Gorey; eight great grandchildren; brother, Danny and Cathy Greenland; sister, Betty Kuhn; sisters-in-law, Norma Greenland and Betty Flynn; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Max was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; brother, Dean Greenland; sister, Patsy Clausen and husband, Lloyd; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jack Kuhn, Dorothy and Wendell Chastain, Mary and Art Havens, Martin and Lena Flynn, and Howard Flynn. A visitation will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with burial in Westerville Cemetery, north of Grand River, Iowa.
