May Hedges, 87, of Salem passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at her home. May grew up in Lawrence, MA, and was a Lawrence High graduate. She retired from Western Electric in Andover, MA, where she was an assembly worker.

For over 40 years, she lived with her husband Clarence on Scollay Circle in Salem, NH, in a wonderful, caring community. Following her retirement, May and Clarence enjoyed traveling to Florida in winters, especially to their Ft. Lauderdale home.

May enjoyed spending time at the ocean, especially Salisbury Beach, with her family. She liked boating on the ocean with Clarence. Throughout her life, May and her 2 sisters have been steadfast friends, talking daily.

The 3 enjoyed many lunch and shopping outings regularly, and spent holidays and celebrated each other’s life events. They have been the truest of friends since childhood. Most recently, May lived among a caring community at Meadowbrook on Sally Sweets Way in Salem, NH.

May was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Clarence. She leaves behind her 2 sisters: Ann Parker of Salem, NH, and Sally Nakley of Londonderry, NH; 2 daughters Patricia St. Laurent and her life partner Jeffrey Pilsmaker, and Pamela Auer and her husband Eric Auer; 5 grandchildren Anthony Auer and his wife Jessica of Ossining, NY, Alison Dufresne and her husband Nicholas of Goffstown, NH, Nicholas Auer of Methuen, MA, Ryan Auer and his wife Cassandra of Methuen, MA, and Madeline St. Laurent of Manchester, NH; as well as 3 great grandchildren, neices and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, September 20th, at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA 01843. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Methuen.
