Michael Barker, 72, of Arkansas City, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center. Michael David was born on February 5, 1947 in Arkansas City, KS, the son of Alfred Leon and Geraldine (Bankston) Barker. He joined the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.

He was honorably discharged. He returned to area and worked in the cotton gin at Strother Field, maintenance at cemetery in Wichita, KS and local bridge construction. Survivors include his brother, Arlan Barker and wife Jeanette, stepbrother, Marshall Kendrick and wife Linda of Newton, KS; his friend of over 20 years, Donna Gellinger and sister-in-law, Vickie Kendrick.

He was preceded in death by stepbrother, Forest Kendrick, and parents, Myrtle and Alfred Barker and Vern and Geraldine Case. The family will hold private graveside services and Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City was in charge of the arrangements.
