Obituary for Michael Douglas Fraser THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF MICHAEL DOUGLAS FRASER “He’s Comin’ In HOT! ” OAKVILLE – Michael Douglas Fraser, 52, of Oakville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of Karen (Iavasile) Fraser and the proud father of Nicholas Fraser.
Mike was born in Waterbury on April 25, 1966, the son of the late Brenda (Blanchard) Saunders of Waterbury and Douglas Fraser of PA. Mike spent 20 years working for the State of Connecticut Correctional Department. During his career he worked at Cheshire Correctional, Manson Youth and Garner Correctional.
He taught at the Correctional Academy, worked for the Correctional Transportation Unit, and served on the C.E.R.T. team and the Honor Guard retiring as a Lieutenant in 2014. Mike was devoted to the Oakville/Watertown community serving as a volunteer fireman for 25 years and accomplishing the rank of Lieutenant and Captain.
He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter and enjoyed riding his Harley until his accident in 2017 and will now be riding with the angels. Mike was always ready and willing to help a friend in need. Michael and his family are eternally grateful for the love and compassion they experienced after his fateful day.
His favorite saying in Corrections was “Comin’ in hot”! so God open up your pearly gates “He’s comin’ in hot! ” Rest in peace Mike.
We love and miss you dearly. Besides his wife Karen of 29 years, Mike is survived by his son, Nicholas Fraser of Oakville, sisters, Regina Perugini, Staci McCann, and Dawn Stratton; as well as his brothers Scott Fraser and Doug Fraser. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as numerous loving friends from all corners of the country.
Funeral services for Mr. Fraser will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 10 Buckingham Street, Oakville, CT. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 183 North Street, Watertown, CT with Fire Department Honors.
