Obituary for Michael Elliott Mims Michael Elliott Mims, 43, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey. Born November 22, 1974, in Sumter, he was a son of Joseph Mims and Frances Holloman Mims. Mike was an RN at Carolina’s Hospital System in Florence and dedicated himself in service to others.

He attended Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents of Bishopville; three children, Alison Matthew, Bethany Holloman Mims, and Joseph McGuire Mims all of Sumter; a granddaughter, Luana Elizabeth Hernandez; a sister, Allison Lawson (Justin); a niece, Rachel Taylor; and a nephew, Chase Taylor. He was loved by many friends and close relatives.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Edward “Eddie” Mims, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 948 Raccoon Rd. , Bishopville. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
