Michael Eugene Duke, 56, departed this life on May 29, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday at Advancing Christ Kingdom Ministries with Pastor Dierre Glenn to officiate. Viewing will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Coleman & Hicks Chapel.

He was born Aug. 20, 1961 to the late Harvey Duke and Lucille Gilbert-Duke in Decatur, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age.

He attended Pleasant Hill as a child, and later attended New Hope, New Disciple Love Fellowship and currently was an ordained Deacon at Advancing Christ Kingdom Ministries, under the leadership of Pastors’ Dierre and Patricia Glenn. He attended Rogers High School and he graduated in 1980. He later married the love of his life Vannessa Lynn Williams of 27 years and to this union two children were born.

Michael was employed at PreCoat Metals for 30 years until his health began to fail him. He enjoyed helping others, being a handyman and spending time with family. Michael leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Vannessa Lynn Duke, Michigan City; two extraordinary children, daughter, Camille Le’Shae Duke; son, Michael Cedell Duke, both of Michigan City; four brothers, Ronnie Gilbert of Athens, Alabama; Marcus (Evelyn) Duke of Noblesville, Indiana; Malcolm Duke and Craig (Patricia) Duke both of Michigan City; two sisters, Sheila (Connie) Adams of Michigan City; and Diana Duke, of Athens, Alabama; special mother-in-law, Pastor Hazel Williams; godchildren, Cameela Duke, Shondra Fields, Natasha Kendle, Latisha Kendle, Greylon Hervey, Princeton Hervey, Brenden Augustyniak, Garrett Horne and Antonio Ingram, along with a host of other special friends, (The West Side Crew), aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, Church Family and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Annie B. Johnson; grandfather, Joseph Duke, and other relatives. Michael had an infectious smile that would brighten anyone’s day. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
