Michael Eugene Evans age 44 of Smithville passed away Saturday afternoon, September 22, 2018 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born May 27, 1974 to his parents, Randall Carl Evans and Dian Anderson Short. Mike worked as an Automotive Technician with Nissan and was disabled.

He is survived by his wife, Kayla Evans of Smithville; 6 children, Krestin Evans of Smithville, Trenton Evans and Allie Evans both of Murfreesboro, Brooklyn Barnes of Smithville, Stormy Evans of Carthage and James Lane of Smithville; mother, Dian Short of Murfreesboro; father, Randy Evans of Rock Island; grandmother, Joyce Bugg of Murfreesboro; grandfather, James Burton of Lancaster; 2 sisters, Jamie Lyn Holt of Murfreesboro and Jessica Stanford of Lebanon; brother, Chris Evans of Smithville. The family has honored Mike’s request to be cremated and no services are planned. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
