Obituary for Michael F. Wilson Cooper – Calais – Lubec – Michael F. “Mike” Wilson, 73, died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Downeast Community Hospital in Machias following a long illness. He was born in Machias on July 18, 1945, the son of Martin Francis Wilson and Helen (Stuart) Wilson. Michael was a graduate of Lubec High School, Class of 1964, and American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York, NY.
Upon completion of his education and passing State of Maine and National Boards, he returned to Maine as a Licensed Funeral Director at the Scholl Funeral Home in Calais. Mike later purchased the Scott Funeral Home and Scholl Funeral Home and operated a branch in Lubec under the names of the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home and The Michael F. Wilson Funeral Home. Predeceased by his parents, Michael is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice (Bailey) Wilson; two sons, David M. Wilson of Cooper, and Shawn M. Wilson and his fiancé Rachel Polchies of Baileyville; one grandson, Matthew R. Wilson of Baileyville; brother-in-law, Harold Bailey and his wife Margaret of Lubec; sister-in-law, Constance Bailey of Millis, MA; two nieces and several cousins.
Also survived by a very special neighbor, Serena Watson; and many friends. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Abrams for his care and compassion, Maureen Lewia, Joey Gardner, Genie Hall, and CHCS Hospice. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.
Visitation will also be held 11 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday, December 6 at Sacred Heart Church, 14 Hamilton St., Lubec. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon. Burial will follow in West Ridge Cemetery in Cooper.
