Michael Shaul Francom , August 18, 1949 — November 30, 2018

Michael Shaul Francom, 69, of Lehi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2018, with family by his side. He was born August 18, 1949, to Mary and Lynn Francom in Provo, Utah. Michael grew up in Provo and graduated from Provo High School in 1968.

He married Lucy Hicken on November 11, 1972. He attended Weber State University after high school. After marriage, he attended Utah Valley Community College and got his license for commercial driving.

He worked as a truck driver for about 8 years. When he was unable to drive truck, due to illness, he went back to college and got an associate’s degree in accounting. He then worked for the State of Utah for many years.

He retired from the State of Utah after working for them for 9 years. While mental illness significantly affected his life, he loved his family and did his best to provide for them. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains and going camping.

He had a love of music and enjoyed singing. In the last years of his life he suffered from Dementia. Michael is survived by his children: Don (April) Francom and Wendy Hall, of Lehi, 3 grandchildren: Jaiden, Izabelle and Ann, brother: Mark (Gene) Francom of Ogden, sister: Vicki (Lynn) Clayson of Centerville.

Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy, parents, Lynn and Mary, and his sister Shauna. There will be a graveside service in the Payson City Cemetery, Friday, November 8, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to help defer funeral costs. The family would like to extend our deep gratitude to the hospice workers and Beehive Homes of Lehi for their support and care for Mike during his time with them.
