With deepest sorrow we announce that Michael Todd Boswell (Boz), age 55 our most beloved son, brother, father, family member, and friend passed on February 13, 2019, due to complications from his courageous and dignified 8 year battle with cancer. Those who knew Todd, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. He will be greatly missed by his lifelong friend, devoted care taker and enormously loving mother Geraldine (Gerri) Boswell.
He cherished his role as worlds greatest father to his treasured son, Michael Paul Boswell, who has been his fathers side-kick from birth until his last breath and his step-children Sam (Chelsea) Bates and Chandee Bond. He loved becoming a grandfather to Amelia and Calum Bates; Aiden, Owen and Liam Bond. He was proud to be the best big brother of Holley (Thomas) Zailet and a doting uncle to Ashleigh and Morganne.
He will be sadly missed by all of his family and huge circle of great friends. We know Todd is now re-united with his father, Michael S. Boswell, his grandparents Holley (Fern) Ellis, Milton (Marjorie) Boswell and his special Uncle Paul Boswell. Born January 24, 1964, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah he spent his childhood growing up in Rose Park.
From an early age he had a vivid imagination and created his friends “Kid” and “Duck” who drove with him in his big green tractor, hung out with GI Joe and hid in the toybox. He was never without the love of a good dog. He took great joy in hunting with his Uncle Paul and achieved the honor of Eagle Scout.
He graduated from West High School where he excelled in football and developed his life-long love of the sport. He went on to play his beloved sport at Dixie State and did a short stint at the University of Utah. Todd’s career pursuits led him to a myriad of jobs including security guard, managing liquor stores, car crushing business, Kennecott Copper Mines and finally High Temperature Maintenance at the University of Utah.
While managing these various fulltime roles, Todd was an avid football fan of several sports teams, the “Bears” being his chosen favorite since the age of two. Todd married Sue Frank, February 14, 1998. While they later divorced this is where he began his valued role as father and family man.
He became an uncommonly devoted father. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important—the simplicity of living a life with those you love. Todd enjoyed cooking and creating beautiful meals to share with family and friends.
He was generous to a fault, possessed an enormous heart, and yet he sugar coated absolutely nothing. His fondness of beer was only surpassed by his love of “Rosalita” his favorite bike. A Harley enthusiast, he enjoyed many a ride with friends and family on the open road.
He fondly reminisced about good friends, good music, good beer and great times at all the special little places he discovered and called home. Before passing Todd forged a 55-year trail of laughter, generosity, compassion, loyalty and wisdom. Most of all people recall the sheer pleasure of his company, how good he made them feel, how free they were to be themselves around him and how he was quick to become “my best friend”.
Everyone he touched with that impish smile, irreverent sense of humor, and twinkle in his eye, will always be connected as nothing can separate love. He died is just like he lived; he wrote his own rules, he paved his own way and took the road less traveled. And if you said he couldn’t do it, he made sure to show us all that he could.
Because of this and “his way” we will be having a celebration of life at a later time when the sun and the bikes are out, because…. . according to “Boz”, nothing about the cold or snow should be celebrated!
