MICHAEL R. MATTIOLI November 2, 1957 – March 9, 2019 Born in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Resided in Drexel Hill, Pa. Michael R. Mattioli, 61, of Drexel Hill, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

Affectionately known by his friends as “Meatball”, Michael was a lifelong resident of Drexel Hill and graduate of Upper Darby High School (Class of 1976) at which time he began his 30-year career as an auto body technician with his Uncle Dan at Barberes Brothers Auto Body in Ardmore, PA. He later focused his attention on helping his family build his brother Jimmy’s bar, Matty’s Place, on West Chester Pike in Upper Darby where he joined him as the cook. Michael enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing and hunting, riding his Harley Davidson and spending time at the beach with his fiancee, Elaine.

He is predeceased by his parents, James D. Mattioli and Amelia Mattioli (nee Irvello), as well as his brother James D. Mattioli, Jr. Michael is survived by his sister, Deborah (Edward) Warner; his brother, Mark Mattioli; his nephew, James D. Mattioli III; the love of his life and caregiver, Elaine Weaver, and her sons Patrick (Kate) Weaver, Kevin (Jill) Weaver and George “Bud” Weaver, and grandchildren Scott and Brendon Weaver, Kaleigh and Delainey Weaver, and Emma Herzog. All family and friends may call 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 17 at Stretch Funeral Home, 236 E. Eagle Road, Havertown, PA and 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM on Monday, March 18 at St. Bernadette Church, 1035 Turner Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadette’s Church at 10:30AM on Monday, March 18.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken.
