Mrs. Mildred Ann Walsh Burns, age 96, of Shelbyville, a native of Nashville, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the Cathedral of Incarnation in Nashville. This is the church in which Milanne was baptized, made her first communion, and was married.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Nashville. The family will receive visitors 3-6 PM Sunday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. She was born July 9, 1922, in Nashville, the oldest of three girls, to the late Charles and Mary Jo Landry Walsh.

She was a graduate of St. Cecilia Academy and Ward Belmont College. She began a career in the United States Secret Service under the administration of President Dwight Eisenhower and continued through the Presidency of Ronald Reagan. She was a most faithful member of the Catholic Faith and held membership at St. William Catholic Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John Dennis “Red” Burns, and two sisters, Jean Hornberger and Mary Jo Feldhaus. Survivors include two children, Charles Dennis Burns, and his wife Anna, of Virginia, and Katherine Walsh Burns Pappas, of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, John Pappas, and his wife Bekah, Melissa Silvers, and her husband Noah, and Matthew Pappas, all of Chicago; great grandchildren, Bennett Silvers, Landry Silvers, Rylin Pappas and Jonah Pappas. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
