Minnie J. Wilson, age 89, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at Darby Glenn Nursing Center in Hilliard. Minnie was a West High School graduate. She was a strong athlete and enjoyed track, tennis and baseball.

Minnie was proud of being the first black female hired at the downtown Woolworth’s. She retired from the State of Ohio. She devoted many hours to worshipping with Jimmy Swaggart.

She was a faithful member of Gospel Tabernacle United Holy Church, a Sunday school teacher and was on the Usher Board. She also kept busy as a brownie and blue bird leader, a foster parent/grandparent and as the leader of the Wilson Family of Singers. Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Ora Childs; son, Maurice Wilson; daughter, Jeanita Dukes; son-in-law, Steven lambert; siblings: Jimmy Montgomery, Oliver Childs, Fred Childs, Baxter Childs, Helen Gilmore, Mary Horsley and Margaret Barnett.

Left to cherish her memory are children: Ardy (Belinda) Wilson, Vernita Lambert, Wendy Wilson, Kimberly Wilson, Sarah (Eric) Baker, Alex; god daughter, Kristee Burton; best friends, Mary and Helen; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and special nieces. Friends may call Tuesday 11am-noon at Jerry Spears Funeral Home with Crematory, 2693 West Broad St. where service will be held at noon. Officiating, Minister Kelvin Freeman and Mandell Childs.
