Obituary for Mr John Jacobs Jacobs, John Peter Kalamazoo Died on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, Age 88. John was born in Baltimore, MD on March 24, 1930, the son of the late Harold Jacobs and Marie (Locey) Jacobs. He graduated from Mendon High School in 1949.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953, with the rank of P.F.C. He worked for the Kalamazoo Police Department and the Kalamazoo Sheriff’s Department for twelve years. He later worked for the Upjohn Company, retiring in 1990 after twenty years of service.

He was active in the Portage Kiwanis Club for many years following retirement. He was married to Helen (Lassiter) Jacobs, who preceded him in death on December 12, 1980. He later married Nancy L. (Hayward) Jacobs in 1986.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; two sons from his marriage to Helen , John (Laura) Jacobs and Steve (Rachel) Jacobs. Also surviving are step-sons, Bud (Lori) Stafford and Scott Stafford and step-daughter, Sandra (Dan) Nelson; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family from 12 -1 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave.
