Obituary for Mrs Janet B. Brown Janet B. Brown, 97, a lifetime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson passed away on April 27, 2018 surrounded by her loving daughter and caregivers. She was born on August 16, 1920 to the late Burt M. and Helen Bigelow. Janet was married to Robert W. Brown since 1943.

He predeceased her in 1995. Janet was a proud Executive Secretary to John Fairchild of Fairchild Publishing prior to the birth of her daughter. Later she worked as a Secretary to the Chaplain at Children’s Village and for South Presbyterian Church both in Dobbs Ferry.

Janet was an active volunteer at St. John’s Hospital, Hastings Library and South Church. She is survived by her daughter Barbara “Charlie” Murphy (John Dodson) and by her grandkitty George. Her daughter attributes Janet’s long life to the extraordinary care and love that she received from Danka, Danny, Lara and Anna.

Funeral Service Tuesday May 1st 11:00am South Presbyterian Church, Dobbs Ferry followed by interment at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale.
