In loving memory of Shirley Fay Haselhuhn July 27, 1942 – February 9, 2019 Shirley was born in Monticello, Mississippi. In her early years, she was raised by her Grandparents in Mississippi. As the economy grew in Michigan, many family members moved north for work.

She moved north when she was 8 or 9 years old to be reunited with her mother and stepfather. Soon, she found herself with two much younger sisters and was a wonderful help to her mother in raising them. She met her first husband, Howard, at the Blue Sky Drive Inn restaurant.

After some crazy courting rituals with fast cars on Woodward Avenue, She married and had two sons, Howard Jr, and Michael. She was wife, mother, scout leader, and organized many community events in her neighborhood. She kept a nice home in a suburban neighborhood.

She moved to Southern California in the early 80’s, married her second husband, Edwin Jr, and had her third son, Edwin III. They lived in many places around SoCal, the most interesting was a vacation home once owned by Roy Rogers. She worked very hard supporting their family business, See’s Construction, for many years, through all the construction ups and downs in the Southern California construction market.

She loved to host parties. Christmas, Easter, cards, any excuse to get friends and family together. There was always way too much food as she tried to make dishes that each person liked the most.

Even the week of leftovers following the parties gave us good food. Shirley survived breast cancer in her late 40’s. Following that ordeal she went back to school and became a registered Nurse at age 57.

She worked in the Oncology department and in the allergy department at Kaiser, Fontana, helping others get through similar health issues. She retired from nursing after 15 years and who knows how many reprimands for playing music for her patients to help calm them during their treatments. She spent her final year in San Marcos, much closer to the beach.

The beach was the one place that she really loved. Didn’t matter where, she just had an overwhelming desire to get to the beach as often as possible. She enjoyed walks on the beaches and pier’s, and talked about them at every opportunity.

Shirley had a, relatively, short bout with lung cancer and pneumonia, leading to her passing on February 8, 2019. She was fighting as best she could, as she had throughout her life. She is survived by three sons and spouses: Howard and Amy, Michael and Rose, and Edwin III, Five grandchildren and spouses: Howard III and Amberlee, Laura and Patrick, Stephanie, Julia, and Michael, Two sisters and spouses: Judy and Craig, and Diane(Sis) and Bruce, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins (and more cousins).

Rest in Peace, Mom. We love and will miss you. Say Hi to dad when you catch up with him.
