Family joined with choirs of angels to sing Happy Birthday to Nancy who left this world for Heaven on her 80th Birthday. Nancy was born on October 29, 1938 in Franklin Township, Columbia County, the daughter of the late Lewis and Anna (Stefanski) Barnes. She graduated from Catawissa High School Class of 1956.

She was employed by Sears, Magee Carpet and the Geisinger Medical Center from which she retired in 1996. Nancy was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Millgrove, where she served on the Consistory as treasurer, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women’s Guild. In earlier years she was a Girl Scout and 4-H leader.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Bloomsburg Chapter 279 and previously of Catawissa Chapter 265, serving twice as Worthy Matron. She also served as an officer of the Order of Eastern Star Areme Club. Nancy enjoyed family vacations to various beaches on the Jersey Shore, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, bus trips and cruises to the Caribbean.

She especially cherished her 50th Wedding Anniversary celebratory cruise to Bermuda with over 118 of her family and friends. She enjoyed playing various card games and bingo, reading murder mystery novels and the Bible, solving crossword puzzles and trips to the casinos. Nancy was very proud of her family and took pleasure in spoiling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She valued hosting family dinners, especially during the holidays. She was a great collector of all things angels and giraffes. She was preceded in death by sisters Louella Kessler, Margret Girton, Jean Stewart and infant sisters Alice and Rita; brothers Harry, Charles, Thomas, Raymond and Lewis Barnes.

Nancy is survived by her husband Ronald W. Long whom she married on October 10, 1959, recently celebrating 59 years of marriage. She is also survived by three children, Roxanne Lonoconus, wife of Dr. Alan, Catawissa; Jane Brezinski, wife of Robert, Numidia; Craig Long, Catawissa and companion, Jennifer Shultz of Mifflinville. Grandchildren are Chelsea Mantz, wife of Eric, Austin Lonoconus and wife Clarissa, Miranda Long, Gage Long, Jared Brezinski, Jadyn Brezinski and two great grandchildren Easton and Everly Mantz.

She is also survived by brothers Ralph Barnes of Catawissa, Alvin Barnes and wife Pat, Dover Delaware, sister Mary Kay Makowski, wife of Walter, Elysburg, sister-in-law’s Jeanne Barnes, wife of Tom, and Deb Barnes, wife of Raymond. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews that she so loved. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 am at Grace United Church of Christ, 1 Pension Street, Catawissa, PA, 17820, with Pastor David Adams officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, PA, 17820. Eastern Star will conduct services at 7:00 pm. A second visitation will be held Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service.

Interment will be in the Grace United Church of Christ Cemetery.
