Nancy’s Obituary Nancy Eck Pelletier, 74, died March 3 in Scarborough. She was born August 1, 1944 in Keene, NH, the second of three daughters born to Marshall Owen Eck and Doris E. Grade. Nancy was raised in Marlboro, NH, Evanston, IL, and Northborough, MA.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in education at Keene State University where she met husband of 45 years, John “Jack” E. Pelletier. They married June 24, 1967 and shortly thereafter she and Jack moved to Bar Harbor, Maine, where Jack owned and operated The Anchorage Motel. While Jack ran the business, Nancy concentrated on raising their three wonderful children.

She had a lifelong connection with the Congregational Church and dedicated many years volunteering her services with the Bar Harbor congregation of the United Church of Christ. Nancy treasured her summers at La Selva where she created beautiful gardens admired by all. She enjoyed immersing herself in cross-stitch and embroidery projects, as well as spending time with her four precocious grandchildren whom she adored.

A matriarch in the truest sense, she was the heart of all our family gatherings. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, by her husband Jack, and two brothers-in-law, Robert Brolli and Donn Hill. She is survived by her sons, Jay Pelletier and his wife Rachel of Bar Harbor, and Evan Pelletier of Hulls Cove; her daughter Jill Pelletier and her wife Erin Damon of South Portland; her grandchildren Janna and Remy Pelletier, and Elsa and Owen Damon-Pelletier; her beloved sisters Marcia Brolli and Susan Hill; many dear friends including her childhood Circle of Seven.

A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Maine Medical Center, and most especially to the staff at Gosnell House for their exceptional care and compassion during Nancy’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Nancy’s memory be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, Maine 04074.

Arrangements by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, Maine 04106. Online condolences may be expressed at www. hobbsfuneralhome.com.
