Nancy Joyce McClure Schlafke, born in Big Beaver, Michigan on March 7, 1933 to Emory C. McClure and Edna Lucile Bell McClure. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; Three brothers: Emory Wallace, Donald Claude, and Gordon DeWitt McClure; Her sister, Edna May Spry Williams; Two sisters-in-law: Marie Grandchamp and Jean Ballinger McClure. She is survived by her son, Calvin Patrick Schlafke and his wife, Valerie; Daughters: Lee Ann Schlafke, and Kay Louise Harrigan; Her sister, Irene Taylor and her husband, Jim; Five grandchildren: Calvin Paul Schlafke, Charity Bruncz and her husband, Gordon; Tiffiny Vann and her husband, Ken, Kimberly Ammons, and Daniel Harrigan; Six great-grandchildren: Ann Marie Schlafke, Justin and Dylan Ammons, Michael and Autumn Bruncz, and Kristin Vann; She is also survived by my cherished nieces and nephews.

Nancy spent her childhood in Georgia and Michigan but she, along with her then-husband and children resided in Idaho Falls, Idaho for many years. She and her daughters returned to Georgia in 1970 where she found employment with the C&S Bank (Now Bank of America). She worked in various departments of the bank for twenty-five years and retired in 1995 as an Assistant Vice President in the security department.

After retirement, she relocated to Hazel Green, Alabama where she spent the remainder of her years enjoying her family, home, garden, church, friends, pets, and community. She was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green and supported and participated in the Women’s Missionary Union and the senior adult Young At Heart group. The family will receive friends on Saturday at 1pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1:30pm at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Williams officiating. A private burial will follow in Charity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Russel Hill Cancer Foundation.
