Obituary for Nancy K. Swartwood Nancy Ann Knerr Swartwood died on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. She was born on August 18, 1930 the only daughter of the late Harold Smith Knerr and Martha Louise Paulman Knerr. Predeceased by husband, New York State Supreme Court Justice Charles Brown Swartwood; two stepsons, Peter H. Swartwood and Jonathan Swartwood; brother, William George Knerr; sisters-in-law, Jean Frost Knerr, Mary Catherine Swartwood Sinclaire (William), and Helen Tryntje Swartwood Rollinson (Harrison).

She is survived by son, Mark David Tillinghast (Cheryl) of FL; step daughters, Caroline (Muff) Blash (William R.) of CT, Penelope (Penny) Brewer of Elmira; stepsons, Ret. Federal Court Chief Magistrate Judge Charles B. (Brownie) Swartwood (Heidi Baracsi) of MA, Slater W. Swartwood (Kathryn) of LA; nieces and nephews, many step grands and many many step great grands. Nancy graduated from Southside High School and taught dance with the Ferguson Dance Studio in the 40’s to early 60’s.

She was a director in the New York State African Violet Society in the 80’s. There will be no calling hours and a private Service will be at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may make a memorial donation to a Charity of your choice or to her church, Grace Episcopal Church, 375 W. Church St., Elmira, NY 14901.
