Obituary for Nancy Proffitt New Palestine- Nancy Elizabeth (Scott) Proffitt, age 62, of New Palestine, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born in Indianapolis on April 27, 1956 to Paul E. Scott and Lois E. (Spaulding) Scott. She graduated from New Palestine High School in 1974.
Nancy continued her education at Ivy Tech Community College and graduated in 1994 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked as a Nurse for nearly 25 years at Ashford Place in Shelbyville, Beech Grove Meadows in Beech Grove, and Regency Place in Greenfield. Nancy loved antiquing and nostalgia, watching movies, traveling, shopping, playing games, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She also enjoyed arts, crafts, and music. She is survived by her former spouse and love, C. Douglas Proffitt of Greenfield; children, Stasia (Ben) Davis of Greenwood, Satora (Matt) Shinbur of New Palestine, Shauna (Aaron) Johnson of Chalmette, LA, and Paul Proffitt of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Audrina Rivera, Everly and Nora Johnson, and Ainsley and Anya Shinbur; siblings, Wilma (Harold) Pfeifer of New Palestine, Larraine (Ron Parks) Yeager of Freedom, and Brian (Beth) Scott of Greenfield; and mother in law, Phyllis J. Proffitt of Crawfordsville. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Julian V. Mitford; and father in law, Charles F. Proffitt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary, with viewing one hour prior to the service.
Pastor Gary Johnson will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassion International or Hancock Regional Hospice, or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
