Nathan John Provence April 1, 1974 – June 19, 2018 On Tuesday June 19th, 2018 our husband, daddy, son, uncle and hero, Nathan John Provence, left his earthly life to be with those that have gone before him. A mere 44 years ago the eternities presented us with the gift of Nate. What a joy it has been to share our lives with this incredible man.
Nate was born on April 1, 1974 to John and Trisha Provence, where he was the first born of three sons. He was raised in Fort Collins, CO and Roy, UT. Like a flame, Nate’s spirit was wild and free.
He loved life and all the people around him. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Mindy Weaver on August 9, 1997. Their hearts beat as one and their love for each other was undeniable.
In 2004 they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Aubree Anne. Nate was considered a good friend to many, he always made you feel important and was the first one to the aid of anyone in need. It didn’t matter if it was a fishing or hunting trip, a smack talking session about football, a comrade in grief or the patient listener who gave you an honest answer, Nate was always there.
If you were lucky enough to be teased by him, you knew he loved you. Nate loved the mountains, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and would take the bumpiest road to get there. He loved the BBQ grill and time spent with family.
He made us laugh ‘til we cried and always had a smile on his face. But there was nothing more important to him than his beautiful daughter Aubree. He simply adored her and was the best at being her Dad.
He was the camp-out in the front room dad, let’s go get a Slurpee dad, dance silly in the kitchen dad and last but not least, her Cheer Dad. He spent countless hours at her tumbling and cheer competitions sitting in the bleachers beaming with pride. He looked forward to being the one to teach her to drive, just to make sure she wouldn’t end up driving like her mom.
They were and always will be best friends. There was never a dull moment in Nate’s life and we will find comfort in knowing he never wasted a minute by doing the things he loved and spending time with the people he loved most. Nate had a great career at HAFB for the past 17 years in the 532nd Landing Gear Squadron as a Lead in Evaluation and Inspections.
He was a subject matter expert in his field who was heavily relied upon for his technical knowledge and ability to diagnose and solve problems pertaining to landing gear overhaul. He was a leader, a valuable team member and friend to those he worked with, leaving a void in his department. Nate is survived by his wife and daughter, his forever loyal dogs, Koda and LouCee, his parents, brothers Dustin (Jade) Provence, Brandon (Heidi) Provence, grandmother Nancy Armstrong, and a cousin he considered a sister Jillian (Michael) Garrett, in-laws Deborah LaFleur, David and Karen Weaver, sisters-in-law Stacy (Dave) Pech, Keri (Jeff) Vigil, brothers-in-law DJ (Tara) Weaver, Shane (Stephanie) Regan and Bart (Mandy) Heslop, aunts, uncles, many cherished nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward Armstrong Sr., grandmother, Marie Provence, uncle Michael “Red” Armstong, aunt Deborah Armstong Erickson and nephew Keifer Deamer. Memorial services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Clinton City Cemetery. Rest in paradise Nate, our love for you will never fade.
Our lives were richer because of you and we will forever reminisce about the time we were so lucky to share with you. In lieu of flowers a memorial account has been established at America First Credit Union in Nathan’s name for his daughter’s college education.
