Nathan Lester Buxton, 79, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 9at his home in Preston, Idaho. He was born in Logan Utah on 30 June 1939 to Alfred Lester and Mercedes Kent Buxton. Nathan was the tenth child and fifth son of his parents.

He was raised and schooled in Lewiston, Utah and graduated from North Cache High School in 1957. While there he sang in the school choir and wrestled in sports. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1962 and served in the Engineers, where he learned mechanic skills which later served him well for 20 years.

He was stationed in Munich Germany before his discharge. Nathan loved to hunt pheasants and Geese and spent time during Goose seasons in Canada and everywhere north of Montana and had no desire to see the east or south. After the Army he worked as a Mechanic in Lewiston Utah and Preston Idaho, before going to Oregon to live and work with his brother Lyle, where he worked in the slaughter house and became expert in meat cutting.

He also maintained all the equipment in those operations. When he retired, he moved back to Preston. Nathan was a fan of the Portland Trail Blazers and other TV sports.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. He was also a member of the Elks Club in Preston where he gave much service to several community service organizations, and repaired many bicycles for children in his neighborhood. He was always responsive to the needs his siblings sometimes had.

Nathan was a very comfortable person in his life. He was exemplary in his service to his neighbors and community service groups. He was seldom heard to criticize anyone.

He is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, but only one of his siblings, Val Buxton of Orem Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers and sisters: Alfred Henry Buxton, Lyle Kent Buxton, and Ted Lamont Buxton, Helen Buxton Layne, Mary Buxton Hansen, Alice Buxton Poole, Rowene Buxton Ransom and Joyce Buxton Tarbet.
