Nell Gilbert Ganus April 28, 1931 – February 02, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Funeral services for Ms. Nell Ena Gilbert Ganus will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Toxey Baptist Church in Toxey, AL with Reverend Ervin Mooney and Reverend Randy Byrd officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery in Gilbertown, AL.

Ms. Ganus, age 87, of Gilbertown, AL, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler, AL. She was born April 28, 1931 in Cross City, Florida to David Cleveland Ward and Mary Ann Lucinda Ward. She was a member of Toxey Baptist Church where she was involved in the Kennagers.

She was also an active member of the Honeysuckle Garden Club and Gilbertown Woman’s Club. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Gilbert Whittington of Gilbertown, AL; daughter-in-law, Gloria Gilbert of Cross City, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie Hedgepeth, Chad Whittington, Blaine Gilbert, Dane Gilbert, and Lara Gilbert; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of friends that she loved like family. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Cleveland Ward and Mary Ann Lucinda Ward; husband, W.L. Gilbert; son, Larry Gilbert; son-in-law, Willie Earl Whittington; grandchildren, Brian Patrick Whittington and Wendy Suzanne Whittington; brother, Donald Ward; and sisters, Ella J. Delaney, Roselle Fowler, Floris Conner, Veta Jackson, and Lora Jean Burdeshaw.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Whittington, Blaine Gilbert, Dane Gilbert, Brad Hedgepeth, Greg Doggett, and Gary Cooper. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Thompson, Jimmy Skinner, Buddy Bonner, Jerry Barefield, and the Keenagers and Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Toxey Baptist Church.
