Nellie J. Molea, 86, of Columbus, died on January 13, 2019 peacefully in her sleep at home. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dr. John S. Molea, D.O., parents Stanley and Bertha Zalewski, and her eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by a loving family including sons Marcus of Columbus and David (Felicia) of Milton, Massachusetts; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mrs. Molea was born on January 27, 1932, the youngest of nine children in Western New York next to Letchworth State Park. She attended Syracuse University and received a B.S. degree in Microbiology. After completing a formal working career, her time was spent taking care of her family, working as business manager for her husband’s medical office, and numerous volunteer activities.

She had a commitment to Osteopathic profession and served the Auxiliary to the Osteopathic Association both in Ohio and New York. In Cincinnati, she was active in the League of Women Voters. In Athens, she worked for the Athens Cancer Society, helping to set up the Athens Area Hospice and the Hemocult colon cancer screening program.

Mrs. Molea was a secretary of the Board of the Dairy Barn Cultural Center and received the Holy Cow Award in 1995. She was President of what is now called the Friends of the Kennedy Museum and also was President of the Tuesday Club. Family will receive friends on Saturday March 30 2019 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High St., Worthington where a Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm.
