Nicholas Gicie, 91, of Butler passed away Thursday May 17, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Butler. Born August 15, 1926 in Canton, OH, he was a son of the late Daniel and Frances Hudas Gicie. Nicholas managed the Lumar Village in Butler for 25 years, retiring in1995.

Following his retirement, he worked part time for Sam’s Club and Target Department Store. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Lyndora. Nicholas was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Surviving is his daughter, Sandra Fry of FL;, A step-daughter, Felicia Giger of Butler. 3 grandchildren: Alexandra C. (Jonathan) C. Kalchthaler of Pittsburgh, Hannah C. Ventura of Pittsburgh and Faye C.Ventura of Upper St. Clair. A brother, Daniel Gicie and a sister, Frances Miller, both of FL.

A niece, Linda Haas of OH. And many nieces and nephews. A great granddaughter soon to be.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita Brabec Gicie who passed away December 21, 2013. 3 sisters, Irene Dottavio, Amy Bowers and Helen Mary Harterstein. Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA 16001 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Monday.

A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 pm Monday from St. Andrew Orthodox Church, 201 Penn Avenue, Lyndora. Rev. Keith Lowe, Pastor, to officiate.

Interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. A Panachita Service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday from the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew Orthodox Church.
