Obituary for Nola Marie Lutz Dateline: Godfrey Nola Marie Lutz, 84, died at 2:54 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at her home. Born May 20, 1933 in Alton, she was the daughter of Walter L. and Nola J. (Smar) Hoover. She married John C. Lutz on May 20, 1948 in Carlinville, IL.

He preceded her in death on July 9, 2002. Mrs. Lutz was a nurse’s aid for Alton Memorial Hospital as well as Eunice Smith Nursing Home. She was an active member of the Open Door Fellowship Church and served as President of the Navy Mother’s Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Lutz-Vandygriff (Samuel) of Godfrey, and Juanita M. Lutz-McFall (James) of Alton, seven grandchildren, Michael Vandygriff, Stephanie Lalor, Robert Vandygriff, William McFall, Carrie McFall, Timothy Lutz, and Jeremiah Lutz, 7 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Walter Hoover (Janet) of Wisconsin and a sister-in-law, Martha Hoover of Texas. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, David L. and John C. Lutz, and a brother Donald Hoover.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Dave Landry will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
