Obituary for Norma Elen Bruce (O’Neil) Norma Elena Bruce was born on March 4, 1939 to Emma and Carlton O’Neil in the Bronx, New York. She departed her life on March 10, 2018 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. Norma was a resident of the Bronx on Tinton Avenue and attended Morris High School where she received her high school diploma.

Later, she attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College. In 1977, Ms. Bruce resided at 964 East 224th Street Bronx, New York for thirty years, with her spouse Raymond Wesley Bruce, who later passed away, and her daughters Norma Alicia Washington, Carol Ann Cox and Nancy Cox. Norma was employed with Chemical Bank and Sears Roebuck for several years.

Later, she became employed with the New York City Police Department for fourteen years as Dispatch Communication Technician. In 1997, Ms. Bruce retired from the New York City Police Department and she has received many awards from the police department for her outstanding work. In 2007, she relocated to Yonkers, New York where she currently resided before her passing.

Ms. Bruce was well-known for her strong demeanor, warm heart, outgoing, and friendly personality. She would make many people smile and feel welcomed in her home. Family was her everything and they meant the world to her.

She was very well involved in the PTA, Girl Scouts and the voting polls. Ms. Bruce was called to the Lord and leaves her three daughters, Norma, Carol and Nancy; ten granddaughters, Normisha, Sheena, Shawna, Ronnie, Elena, Kassandra, Emilee, Camille, Alana and Marquita; three great granddaughters, Kyah, Amirah and Kayla; one great grandson, Braiden; her three sisters, Ann, Joyce and Joan; along with her nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends to cherish her memory.
