Norma Jean Burkle, 89, residing in Niles, Michigan, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at West Woods of Niles, MI. She was born July 30, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri, a daughter of the late Joseph Whit & Reta May (Garren) Rogers. On January 4, 1964 in Roseland, IN, she was united in marriage to Jack D. Burkle.

Together they have enjoyed 54 years of marriage. In addition to her loving husband Jack, she is survived by her four daughters, Linda (Barry) Brodzinski of Niles, MI; Debbie Wygent of Niles, MI; Donna (Tony) Lasswell of South Bend, IN; and Cindy (Terry) Mead of Niles, MI; her son, Jack Burkle Jr., of Port St. Lucie, FL; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Horning and Fern Wirick.

While living in this area, she formerly worked for Ball Band and A.M. General Corp. When Norma and Jack moved to Florida, they were owners of Pfaff Sewing Center in Fort Lauderdale. Upon retirement they moved to Crossville, TN in 1998, and after twenty years, just recently moved to Niles earlier this year.

Norma loved to spend her time reading. She enjoyed sewing and collecting clowns, but most of all, she loved being with her family. They meant all the world to her, and she was happiest when she was with them.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Glen Blossom will officiate.

Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.
