Stanley Mitchell November 19, 1929 – July 2, 2018 SOUTH BEND – Stanley Mitchell, 88, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at his home. Stanley was born on November 19, 1929 in Plymouth, Indiana to the late William H. Mitchell and Eva A. (Stroup) Mitchell and his been a lifelong resident of this area. Stanley proudly served our country in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War Conflict, honorably discharged in 1953.

He worked for 33 years as a Passport and Claims Clerk with the United States Postal Service in South Bend. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post #50. On December 31, 1955 in Plymouth, IN, he was married to Patricia J. (Platz), who has preceded him in death on September 15, 2014.

He was also preceded in death by their daughter, Kathy Jo Mitchell on April 17, 2017; his sister, May June Sullivan; and his brothers, Robert, Clarence, and Howard Mitchell. Stanley is survived by his sons, Clark Dean (Jenellen) Mitchell of Lafayette, IN and Timothy S. (Corina) Mitchell of Mishawaka, IN; five grandchildren, Tim (Linda) Dyszkiewicz, James (Jen) Dyszkiewicz, Clark (Violet) Mitchell, Justin (Teresa) Mitchell and Jeanie Sue Mitchell; nine great-grandchildren, Skyler J. Vermillion, Peyton Rycombel, Stanley Walker Mitchell, Kiera Mitchell, Riley Mitchell, Kyler Mitchell, Jordan, Adam and Troy Dyszkiewicz; brothers, Charles Mitchell of Ventura, CA and Glenn (Sue) Mitchell of Plymouth, IN. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, July 6, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave.
