OBITUARY Norma Jean White September 21, 1933 – December 13, 2018 Norma Jean Carter White, age 85, of Hickory, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Carolina Caring in Newton, NC. Born September 21, 1933, in Forsyth County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Franklin Carter and Nellie Florence Thompson Carter. Norma was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church and had retired after working in the textile and furniture industries.

She was known for her cross stitch work which included crosses and Christmas ornaments. Norma enjoyed bird watching and always enjoyed helping others before doing things for herself. Her favorite quote was telling others “I love you the mostest!

! ” In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Carter, Bobby Ray Carter, and Lawrence Ray Carter; and sisters, Doris C. Fox and Marie Carter. Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Earl D. White of the home; daughters, Donna Macnak and husband Joe of Dallas, TX, and Dianne Jensen of Ellicott City, MD; brother, Tom Carter and wife Barbara of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Lauren Compton, Taylor Jensen, Alexandra Marasa, Elizabeth Anderson, Eric Macnak, and Natalie Dixon; great-grandchildren, Emily Williams, Samuel Williams, Hunter Anderson, Jaylyn Dixon, Aaliyah Dixon, Angelica Macnak, and Alora Macnak; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 16, 2018, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, NC, with Norma’s nephew, Rev. Rick Carter, officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory, NC.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:15 PM on Sunday. Serving as pallbearers will be: Joe Macnak, Joel Compton, Jerry Carswell, Larry White, Tom Carter, and Doug Carter. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Carolina Caring, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC, 28658 or to American Lung Association, 401 Hawthorne Lane, Suite 110#298, Charlotte, NC 28204.
