Of Southington, CT. , formerly of Lower Burrell passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, November 24, 2018. He had been the loving husband of Dorothy M. (Thomas) Libengood.

They would have been married for 70 years on Nov. 27. Norman was born in Aspinwall, PA on June 26, 1927 to the late Samuel Ray and Bessie Viola (Ressler) Libengood.

He spent most of his life in Lower Burrell and moved to Southington in 1995. Norman proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Campaign. He attended Connley Trade School and earned his degree in Electronics.

Norman retired from the Pennsylvania Rail Road where he worked as a Block Operator for 43 years. He was an active life member of the VFW Post 92 in Lower Burrell for many years. In addition to his wife Dorothy, Norman is survived by three children: Sharon Ann Jackson and her husband Garry of Higganum, Robert Thomas Libengood and his wife Nancy of FL, Scott Allen Libengood and his wife Linda of Cheshire; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Adam Houck and his wife Katie, Michael and Rachel Libengood and James Libengood and his wife Kelly and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be held in Connecticut on Tuesday at the Plantsville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s memory may be made to CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.

Family and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services at 11 am FRIDAY November 30, 2018 in the Chapel of Greenwood Memorial Park with full military honors by Vandergrift Honor Guard. Local arrangements entrusted to Frank F. Gigler Funeral Home, Inc., Robert P. Karish, Supvr, (724) 335-6500.
