Obituary for Norman J. Hesseling Norman J. ‘Red’ Hesseling, 82, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. His Family…. He was born March 11, 1935 in Delphos to Edmund and Hilda (Lause) Hesseling, who both preceded him in death.
On November 30, 1957 he married Norma M. (Schimmoeller) Hesseling, who survives in Delphos. They just celebrated 60 years together. He is survived by two sons, Dale E. Hesseling of Delphos and Alan G. Hesseling of Columbia City, Indiana; four daughters, Joyce Perry of Lima, Karen (Wade) DeVelvis of Cloverdale, Diane Bowers of Delphos, and Jan Draime of Massillon; three sisters, Eileen Suever of Middle Point, Alice (Robert) Rayman of Romeoville, Illinois, and Lois (Rodney) Wurst of McCormick, S. Carolina; two grandsons, Sean (Ashley) Perry and Jacob Draime; seven granddaughters, Jessica (Toby) Bidlack, Cindy DeVelvis, Jayme (Greg) Jones, Brooke Bowers, Stephenie Bowers, and Amanda Draime; eleven great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jackson and Shaylen Bidlack, Cecilia Latimer, Mason Langley, Hannah-Grace and Emma Perry, Samantha and Madilyn Jones, Brayden and Aria Clark; a brother-in-law, Gerald (Nancy) Schimmoeller of North Andover Massachusetts; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Maag of Columbus Grove and Kay (Donald) Meyer of Ft.
Jennings. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Hesseling; a sister-in-law, Rita Clapp; and a brother-in-law, Norman Maag. His Legacy….
Norman served in the United States Navy aboard aircraft carrier USS Randolph CVA 15 and at the Little Creek Amphibious Base. He was a 1953 graduate of Delphos St. John’s. Norman worked 33 years at Borden Food and Fisher Cheese in Van Wert.
He retired from Delphos Memorial Home and Vancrest after 10 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 1362. Norman loved to travel, being to all 50 states, Italy, Mexico and Canada.
He enjoyed the old western movies and books and was a part of Borden’s Quarter Century Club. His Farewell Services. … Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev.
Dennis Walsh officiating. Military honors conducted by Delphos Veterans Council will follow the service at the church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Knights of Columbus service will be held at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Parish Wake Service.
